Often, such developmental plans do not consider the environmental impact they might have for the specific area and beyond. The affected communities and other stakeholders are not included in the consultation processes and their concerns are not heard.

In order to examine the challenges and needs of civil society and community organizations addressing the matters concerning climate change and environmental protection in Georgia, the measures proposed by the Centre for Strategy and Development, along with desk research, encompassed such a qualitative method of data collection as conducting in-depth interviews with subject matter experts on climate change and environmental protection, representatives of the non-governmental sector (civil society and community organizations) and universities.

While science gives a strong justification for controlling the rapid spread of the coronavirus by limiting the movement of people, closing businesses and enforcing social distancing, there is a serious risk of creating an unintentional wave of authoritarianism by curtailing civil liberties on a massive scale.
