WFD works with local partners to promote women's political leadership worldwide. WFD is focused on creating an inclusive and supportive environment in the ASEAN region that enables politically active women to participate in and assume leadership roles in national, local, and regional politics.
Research conducted in 2021 and 2022 into the costs of politics in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras supported by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy in partnership with Hans Seidel Stiftung has shown how a combination of weakly enforced campaign finance regulation, voter expectations and the increasing influence of criminal gangs over politics are contributors to the rising costs of seeking political office.

The survey conducted by WFD provides insights about the level of political awareness among Serbian citizens, their outlook on domestic political issues and progress, viewpoints on the status of women and youth in society, and their stance on current international affairs.

To address democratic challenges and promote youth participation in public affairs, the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) is leading the European Union-funded project “Women and Youth in Democracy”. As members of the EPD, Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), together with the Kofi Annan Foundation, and the Oslo Center, are implementing the third pillar of this project “Accountability Hubs”, which aims to improve the inclusion of young people in democracy and decision-making.
WFD has been working in Jordan since 2012, when we helped establish the first ever parliamentary Legislative Studies and Research Centre (LSRC).
WFD MENA conducted a political economy analysis to understand the dynamics behind the political landscape in Kuwait and identify feasible pathways for change in relation to women’s political leadership. WFD's analysis generated insights on the key obstacles to women’s candidacy in Kuwait. Additionally, the means by which to determine the appropriate entry points, actors, and knowledge required to more effectively support women as candidates were explored.
WFD engaged with democratic institutions, women leaders, and political parties to support a peaceful transition towards a multi-party democracy in Sudan.

WFD has been active in Tunisia since 2011. Our work focused on supporting the Tunisian legislature on constitutional drafting and strengthening the parliament’s oversight, legislative and representative roles. We also worked with Tunisian political parties to promote the leadership of women and youth, and supported civil society to inform and influence policy making.
In 2012, WFD started working in Pakistan by supporting the federal and provincial legislatures. Over the years, WFD has worked with stakeholders both at federal and provincial level to strengthen the parliamentary system in Pakistan.
