Wendy Alexander was born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She represents the Democratic Alliance, as a Member of Parliament in South Africa. As a parliamentarian she sits on the Finance committee portfolio. She was recently appointed as the Secretary-General for the African Liberal Network. She has served as a councillor in the City of Johannesburg for 7 years. In her tenure as a council within the city, she was elected as the chairperson of the Oversight Committee for Transportation.
Her academic qualifications include an honours degree from the University of Pretoria and a qualification in Leadership in Municipal Governance from the Wits School of Governance. She has trained as a mediator, with a specialty in family law mediation. In addition, she serves on the board of the South African Guide Dog Association. As a puppy raiser she has raised two guide dogs that have gone on to serve as guide dogs for the blind.
