Ooi Kok Hin is the Country Director for Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in Malaysia. With a decade of experience in democracy advocacy, programme management, and policy development, he has been working on advancing political inclusion, electoral reform, and governance across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Bridging the worlds of think tanks, civil society, academia, and international organisations, Ooi has provided policy advice to government ministers, opposition leaders, parliamentary committees, and civil society stakeholders. His advocacy focuses on electoral, institutional, and public policy reforms, underpinned by a strong commitment to democratic principles.

Ooi earned his MA from Waseda University, graduating as Salutatorian of the Graduate School of Political Science, and his BA in Political Science and Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude) from The Ohio State University. His writings have been published in and referenced by Parliamentarians, national and international media outlets, and academic journals. He is also the editor of Making Democracy Work: Institutional Reforms for Malaysia.
