Dennitah is a Kenyan Member of Parliament specially elected to represent Persons with Disabilities. She is also the Vice Chairperson of the Kenya Disability Parliamentary Association.

Dennitah holds an MSc in Social Work and International Affairs from Columbia University, USA, courtesy of a scholarship from the Ford Foundation’s International Fellowship Program. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Kenyatta University, and a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. She is an alumnus of the African Women’s Leadership Institute.

Dennitah represents MPs with disabilities in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Kenya Branch executive committee, which saw her represent Kenya at the first ever Global Disability Summit in London in 2018. She was also recognised by UN Women Africa’s “50 Inspiring Journey” as a woman leader spearheading the empowerment of women and women with disabilities in the socio-political space in Kenya.

Dennitah acquired her disability in 2014 through a road accident, a year after being elected to the Kenyan parliament. Executing her roles as a disabled MP pushed her to seek more opportunities for the emancipation of Persons with Disabilities in Kenya. This led her to launch her charity foundation - The Dennitah Ghati Disability Foundation - in 2017, which empowers Persons with Disabilities and Children with Disabilities especially at the grassroots level.

Dennitah is a proud mother of one.
