The Gender Equality Barometer for Political Parties was developed using a comprehensive methodology consisting of several key components, designed to provide an in-depth analysis of the gender perspective embedded in the core documents and policies of political parties. This included a thorough review of the party statutes, as well as an exploration of the actual experiences of women's representation within the political parties in Albania, which was achieved through a series of surveys and interviews with party members. The three of the largest political parties in Albania were selected for the study—parties that not only have the highest number of members but also command the most seats in the Albanian Parliament. These parties are the Socialist Party (PS), the Democratic Party (PD), and the Freedom Party (PL), formerly known as the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI).

The process of compiling the Gender Equality Barometer involved the integration of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, enabling a robust analysis that provides a comprehensive picture of gender dynamics within Albanian political parties. By combining these approaches, the research was able to capture both the statistical landscape and the personal experiences of those involved, offering a multi-faceted understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to gender equality in politics.

The final report presents significant findings and offers critical recommendations aimed at fostering greater gender equality in Albanian political parties. Key takeaways include the need to ensure equal access to political party financing for women, enhancing their capacities to participate fully in political processes, and addressing issues of gender-based violence within party structures. These recommendations are intended to guide future level changes and promote a more inclusive and gender-equitable political environment in Albania.
