WFD hosted the inaugural Democracy Action Partnership (DAP) in Bali, Indonesia, gathering democratic changemakers in the Asia region to dive into the interrelated forms of violence against women in politics and elections and facilitate responses.

WFD has worked with the Parliament of Indonesia to raise the ambition of the country's climate action.
Following months of engagement with multiple national and regional stakeholders, WFD organised a high-level workshop to develop a draft resolution proposal to be presented at the 44th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). In addition to greater women’s political leadership, the draft resolution proposal also covers financial access and green jobs transition for women in Southeast Asia.
WFD works with local partners to promote women's political leadership worldwide. WFD is focused on creating an inclusive and supportive environment in the ASEAN region that enables politically active women to participate in and assume leadership roles in national, local, and regional politics.
In December WFD co-hosted the 5th Bali Civil Society & Media Forum and participated in the 15th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF). During a panel discussion focused on democracyat the heart of ensuring fair and equitable access to global public goods, WFD’s Environmental Democracy Adviser Rafael Jiménez-Aybar shared his thoughts on the intersection of democracy and climate change.
In collaboration with UN Women and the Women's Parliamentary Caucus of the Republic of Indonesia, WFD organised an event to mark the #16Days of activism against gender-based violence at the Indonesian Parliament complex in Jakarta (29/11) where representatives of all political parties in the parliament signed a declaration to condemn violence against women in politics, especially ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.
Throughout the week of 17–22 October 2022, the Open Parliament e-Network (OPeN) will host a series of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events worldwide to celebrate the resilience of parliamentary reformers in championing open government values.

In a consultative workshop with the Indonesian Parliament on 21–23 October 2020, WFD brought together parliamentary and civil society leaders to discuss the reasons behind the disconnect and co-create solutions. The forum agreed that there is a persistent public distrust towards the parliament.
The COVID-19 pandemic has left many governments feeling torn between focusing on addressing the virus and ensuring a recovery on the one hand and addressing the climate emergency on the other. WFD believes that, if they are transparent and inclusive, democracies can do both.
